Vintage, as it relates to fashion, refers to clothing that was produced from the 1920's through 1980, alhtough many people consider the pieces produced in the 80's as vintage. Retro, short for restrospective, usually refers to clothing that imitates the style of a previous era. Many of today's designers produce "vintage inspired" clothing, borrowing elements, colors and details from the past.
